NEXUS interview coaching is professional preparation for the enrollment interview that every NEXUS applicant completes with a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer and a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer. A coach runs realistic mock interviews, reviews the questions officers commonly ask, and helps you prepare clear, honest answers. Admissibility consulting is separate advisory work: an independent review of your history so you understand where you stand before your interview.
Neither service involves completing, filing, or submitting your application. You apply yourself, free of charge, on the official Trusted Traveler Programs website. Border Prep Consulting provides coaching and advice only.
Most people who apply for NEXUS are approved. At the NEXUS interview you meet officers from both U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Canada Border Services Agency at an enrollment center. They confirm your identity, take your photo and fingerprints, and go through your background. Expect questions about your travel history, where you have lived, your work, and any past legal or customs issues. The officers also explain how to use the NEXUS lanes and kiosks. Most interviews take about 15 to 30 minutes.

The travelers who struggle are usually the ones caught off guard by a question about an old issue. That is exactly what coaching and an admissibility review prepare you for.
NEXUS is a joint trusted traveler program run by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Canada Border Services Agency that gives pre-approved, low-risk travelers faster clearance between the United States and Canada. Members use dedicated lanes at land crossings, kiosks at airports, and a phone-in option at marine reporting sites. NEXUS membership also includes TSA PreCheck for flights within, to and from the United States. A membership lasts five years and the government application fee is US$120.
NEXUS is open to citizens and lawful permanent residents of Canada and the United States, and to Mexican nationals enrolled in the Viajero Confiable program. Applicants must be admissible to both countries and clear risk assessments by both governments. Children can enroll with a parent or guardian's consent. The most common reasons people are refused are a criminal record, a past customs violation, or an incomplete or inconsistent history.

The interview usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes.
